Barbie Announces New Digital Release Day Sooner Than Expected. Warner Bros. has just revealed that fans will have to wait less than a week for the digital release of this year’s highest-grossing movie, “Barbie.”

Starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the film is all set for a premium digital release on September 12th, starting at 12 a.m. PT. This premium release means you’ll pay extra, and initially, it will sport an “in theaters now” tag on the thumbnail.

You can already pre-order “Barbie” from major digital retailers like Vudu, Google, and Apple. This movie has raked in over $1.3 billion at the box office.

On its release date, “Barbie” will be available for early Premium Digital Ownership at home for $29.99, and you can also opt for a 48-hour rental via PVOD for $24.99 on participating digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Vudu, and more. As for when the price will drop to a more standard $19.99, that’s anyone’s guess, but it’s likely to happen at least two weeks later, as the movie will have a week-long run in IMAX theaters starting September 22.
