Epcot Construction Update: More Walls Up, Pathways Changing, CommuniCore Building.
I cannot think of a better Park to visit in the morning. From rope drop at 9:00 AM, until about 11:00 AM, the Park just felt empty. We got to meet Figment at 10 AM and not a soul was in line, no wait time. What a difference a few months can make.
While walking around the park we got to check out all the work being completed. The final push to end the four-year journey of transforming the whole front of Epcot is almost done. With just a few things left to finish, like CommuniCore Hall and Plaza.

Walls:
This construction means we are seeing a few areas closed off and some walled areas being moved around. For starters, the pathway between World Showcase Bridge, around the new CommuniCore Plaza, all the way to Imagination Pavilion is now been closed off. Now, you have to walk all the way to World Showcase to go around, or turn around and head back towards World Nature if you want to get to World Celebration.
Contrary to reports coming out yesterday, the walkway from Spaceship Earth to Living with the Seas Pavilion is still open. It will not be open for long though, we had previously met with Imagineers during the opening of World Celebration and they confirmed that the walkway was never meant to stay open forever.
The walkway has been removed from the maps and will be closed soon. Furthermore, we do not have a timeline for when it will be closed but do not be surprised to one day try and walk around the right side of SSE and see that pathway closed.
CommuniCore Hall and Plaza:
We checked in to see if the new event space could be open in time for the Festival of the Arts. The answer is Nope, it will not be ready. Undoubtedly, we are excited for when it does open. Furthermore, you can keep up with all the newest information at the new Everything Epcot site from Disney Parks.
You can see in the image above that it is inspired by the original EPCOT aesthetic. This is apparent throughout the park’s transformation, including the timeless triangular geometry most prominently featured in Spaceship Earth. Even the CommuniCore name reaches back to the origins of EPCOT while also emphasizing the park’s central idea of community.
At Walt Disney World Resort, CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza will be completed in 2024 as part of the multiyear transformation of EPCOT.
These new spaces extend the EPCOT festivals beyond World Showcase and provide a new home for additional exhibits and entertainment, offering the perfect space to gather with family and friends.
CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza, a multi-use facility and outdoor event space, respectively, bring the park’s international festivals to the center of EPCOT. Meanwhile, the Plaza will have the flexibility to host intimate musical performances that extend out into the nearby gardens.
CommuniCore Hall will be a flexible exhibition and gallery space, offering a wide variety of experiences that highlight art, live music, food – complete with a demonstration kitchen – and more. In addition, adjacent to CommuniCore Hall will be a new Mickey & Friends location where you can meet some of your favorite Disney pals.
