Harrison Ford was honored with the Career Achievement Award. He was given this award to celebrate his 50+ year career in film and television. America Ferrara was honored with the 8th Annual See Her Award. She was the recipient of the award because of her work for gender equality and her continual portrayal of authentic and stereotype-defying characters over her career. She was presented with this by Margo Robbie.

The ceremony was fine. The majority of the speeches were great. My one complaint about the format was that the Supporting Actor and Actress categories were doubled up and announced together. They both got announced and then accepted one right after each other. It seemed to not flow well in that format.

I’m not sure what’s up with the joke writers on the awards shows. The jokes were not great for the Golden Globes and this one was more of the same. There was an uncomfortable joke during the best song category where Bella Ramsey and Anthony Ramos mentioned that Billie Eilish, Lenny Kravitz, and Dua Lipa were singers and “fire” but then said that the rest were actors who thought they were singers. In that category was Academy Award winner, Tony nominee, and “Wish” star Ariana DeBose, who when the camera panned to her, looked uncomfortable. In fact, she took to her Instagram stories and posted, “No I didn’t find it funny. LOL”

Stay tuned to The FUNatics Blog as we continue to bring all of the award season events. Next up is the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards.
